The first confirmation is that of Andrea Berra, who will be head coach of the Monge-Gerbaudo first team. Originally from Racconigi, Berra’s next year will be his 35th in Cuneo volleyball. Before his adventure at PalaSanGiorgio, which began in the summer of 2024, Andrea served as head coach on numerous benches. Among the women’s teams, he served in Savigliano, Marene, Cherasco, Saluzzo, El Gall, Pinerolo, Racconigi, Borgaro Torinese, and Cuneo, and among the men’s teams, in Alba, Racconigi, and Cuneo, the latter of which he led to Serie B in 2016/17. Last year, after starting as assistant coach, he was promoted to head coach in January 2026, leading the team to an incredible comeback to avoid relegation, culminating in a playoff victory against Terni.
The main change concerns the role of assistant coach, to which Matteo Giaccardi has been promoted. Born in 1998, Matteo is fresh from his experience as assistant coach for the white-and-blue Serie D team, following stints as assistant coach for the Fossano Under-14 women’s team, head coach in the men’s First Division at Giovanile Genola, and coach of the Saviglianese Under-13 team. Fresh from passing the federal exam to become a certified assistant coach, Giaccardi also follows a career path. His father, Massimiliano, is currently the assistant coach of Perugia, with whom he has rewritten the history of Italian volleyball (and beyond) in recent seasons. “After playing in Cuneo until I was 17, I chose to embark on this adventure, the same as my dad, because it has always fascinated me. I am ready to begin this important journey,” he said.
