The most exciting volleyball prospect in South America will wear the Itas Trentino men’s jersey for the next two seasons. The signing of 24-year-old Brazilian spiker Adriano Fernandes Procópio Xavier Cavalcante, known to all simply as Adriano, has been officially announced. Trentino Volley acquired him from Volei Renata (where he played in the SuperLiga for the last five seasons), beating off competition from several other interested clubs.
The Brazilian national team’s striker, with whom he has already won six medals in both youth and senior competitions, has chosen Trento to play away from his home country for the first time, convinced by the value of the yellow-and-blue project and the opportunity to compete at the highest levels in the Italian championship. Despite his young age (he turned 24 in February), Adriano already boasts a wealth of international experience, gained not only with the Seleção but also in the Club World Championship with Renata. A well-rounded and technical hammer, his strengths lie in the fundamentals of reception and attack, but he also boasts potential that hasn’t yet been fully realized in serving and blocking.
“I wanted to play in Italy, in the most beautiful and challenging league in the world, and being able to do so immediately in one of the most important clubs is truly the best for me,” Adriano explained directly from Brazil, where he’s training with the national team ahead of the second stage of VNL 2026. “Many of my compatriots have worn the yellow-blue jersey before me, and they all advised me to sign with Trentino Volley, Lucarelli first and foremost. I couldn’t have made a better choice. I can’t wait to arrive in Trento and learn Italian to fully integrate into an environment that I’m sure will be very professional, organized, and well-supported by the fans. I want to make the most of every moment to improve, learn something, and, above all, try to win.”
