His departure is not only from Volley Altotevere, but from volleyball itself. Not yet 30 (born October 25, 1996), spiker Niccolò Cappelletti had to make a choice: his sporting commitments had become incompatible with his work, and so he opted for the latter, also because in the meantime the responsibilities of the family business had increased. The “Cappe” is leaving after nearly 15 years of playing for major teams: starting in Serie C, he debuted in Serie B2 and Serie B at Città di Castello, followed by four years in Serie A2 at Tuscania, Siena, Santa Croce sull’Arno, and Ortona, and finally another four years in the Serie A3 Credem Banca, all in the white and blues, with a total of 103 appearances, 1,327 points scored (of which 1,073 on offense), 175 aces, and 79 blocks. ErmGroup thus loses a veteran of the team and at the same time its “armed arm” from nine meters, considering the power of his serves, which on more than one occasion broke sets and matches. “My first move is a farewell to Serie A and therefore to professional volleyball,” Cappelletti points out, “then we’ll see if there are other options, but on the other hand, the work now requires more time and dedication. It’s clear that the decision must be considered even painful in some respects, after eight seasons in Serie A overall, plus Serie B, Serie C, and the youth teams.” Cappelletti will have very strong memories of his four years at San Giustino: “I always felt at home, part of the family, welcomed like a son and supported by both the club and the local community. I had established an exceptional relationship even outside of the sporting context; from now on, my daily routine will change, and I really think I’ll miss San Giustino.”
