The San Giustino native of ErmGroup Altotevere will once again be playing. Giacomo Cherubini, who turns 32 next December, is among the confirmed players for the white and blue team, having also made a few appearances in the last Serie A3 Credem Banca championship, serving and often intervening in the action. He also played as a spiker in the fourth set of the second leg of the playoff round of 16 against Viridex Sabaudia, scoring four points, one of which was a block. But “Jack” Cherubini is essentially a wildcard (formerly known as “universal”) who can adapt to any situation, even as a setter: he played as a setter in Serie A2 with Città di Castello years ago. “This confirmation is a great reward for me,” Cherubini commented, “because the first year can be a fluke, the second not: it means my performance has been recognized, especially as a locker room manager. I’m a team player, who helps keep the mental energy up and who takes great care of the relationships between the team and the staff. After spending one season as a spectator and another mostly from the sidelines, I hope this is the right time to achieve the result we all want.” ErmGroup is building an even more competitive roster to achieve its lofty goal, and placement in either group (there could even be a return to the Central-Southern group) isn’t a problem for him: “I believe there’s a substantial balance between the White and Blue groups. If anything, the White group had something extra, and we saw it: one promotion each, but with the majority of teams that continued their progress in the playoffs coming from our group. We also need to wait for the general reshuffle: there are still situations to be resolved that currently make the geography of A3 unclear.”
