Francesco Pierri, born in 1999 (he turns 27 on September 14th), a free agent, is a new player for Cisterna Volley. He comes from Joia De Colle, where he played the last two seasons. During his career, he has also played for Acicastello, Catania, Taranto, Casarano, Galatina, and Martano. He’s a Salento native, born in Campi Salentina, but his hometown is Squinzano, where he grew up and lives. “Anyone who loves volleyball knows Squinzano; it’s the hometown of Fefè De Giorgi,” Francesco Pierri proudly emphasizes, speaking of his new adventure in Cisterna.

De Giorgi is (and always will be) a volleyball icon. Everyone knows he’s from Salento, from Squinzano. Salento has a strong volleyball tradition, and even if we don’t talk about major results, in Squinzano, Serie D and C matches are played with hundreds of people in the stands. Volleyball is a very popular sport. And it’s always been my favorite sport, the one I chose as a child to play when I grow up.
