Spiker Davide Gardini introduces himself after his transfer to Cucine Lube Civitanova. It’s a special moment for the athlete, given that he previously competed in several national youth finals as a member of the red and white team. Thrilled to join the Italian runner-up team, the 205 cm giant is full of enthusiasm: “Joining a team like Lube is truly significant,” he exclaims. “These are opportunities you shouldn’t miss!”

A decision shared with his father Andrea, a volleyball legend from the 1990s and current Galatasaray coach. “Not only was he in agreement,” Davide explains, “he’s sure it will be a wonderful experience for me! I always keep him updated on my career progress, and he gives me valuable advice without being intrusive. When my arrival at Lube finally materialized, he exploded with joy.”

The new addition to the red and white team already knows what he can bring to the team: “I want to bring my hardworking attitude and a lot of energy,” he assures. “The roster includes many high-level players, and it will be important for the team to fight with enthusiasm even in difficult moments. Technically, I think I can help in attack and blocking. I’ll have to be good at accommodating the needs of the staff and my teammates to help the team win.”

The former Padova spiker closely followed Civitanova’s progress last season. “The team has great potential,” he says. “At certain times, they showed their strength and came together. It’s no coincidence that they reached the Scudetto Final. Lube’s game in Padua coincided with one of the most challenging moments of the season, but in volleyball, being ready for the key moments is what counts, and in this, the team is second to none.”

His time in the States was crucial for his growth. “A good choice,” he confirms. “I’ve managed to pursue both my studies and my volleyball career at a high level. I wanted to challenge myself. After all, I had already left the family home at 14 for Club Italia.”

On paper, Gardini could be a valuable asset to the team’s balance even off the court. He’s an athlete who loves teamwork and has many interests. “I enjoy being around people,” he reveals. “I love the mountains and the snow. I’ll definitely explore the Marche region as soon as possible.”

Finally, a message of respect for the Predators: “I respect them and I still have many of their chants etched in my head. I’m a fan of their euphoria and the engaging way they follow every game.
