Domotek Volley Reggio Calabria continues to build its foundation for next season, and it’s doing so with a signing that promises great prospects and a bright future.

Following the announcement of sporting director Cesare Pellegrino, who announced an “almost complete” roster ahead of the Serie A2 debut, here’s the first piece of the puzzle that focuses on developing young players: middle blocker Mattia Bonanno.

Born in 2007, 194 centimeters tall and with a huge appetite, the young Palermo native is preparing to make the biggest leap in his career, under the guidance of a coach who has proven his mettle over the years. We’re talking about Antonio Polimeni, Domotek’s coach and the true architect of the coaching project, who has made developing young players his forte.

Bonanno arrives in Calabria after a steady and significant growth journey. Born in Palermo on July 9, 2007, the middle blocker took his first steps in the sport with Volley Club Leoni in Serie C, before moving to Gupe Volley Catania. He has played the last three seasons with the Catania-based team, enjoying both Serie C and, more importantly, Serie B, where he completed two seasons (2024/25 and 2025/26) that hardened him and put him to the test against more experienced and physical opponents.
