Domotek, May 1st on the court: Polimeni energizes his team for the return match “Let’s forget the 3-0, this match must be played with the same determination”

After the resounding 3-0 win over Acqui Terme on the court of Valenza (AL), Domotek Volley Reggio Calabria is ready to write the second chapter of the playoff semifinal. The return match is scheduled for Friday,

May 1st at 8:00 PM, at Palacalafiore. Coach Antonio Polimeni’s energy is already sky-high.

The trip to Valenza was wrapped up in the best possible way, but his focus is already on the return match. “We resumed training after a two-day break,” explains Polimeni, “and as is right, after a logisticalally challenging trip like the one to Acqui Terme, we returned with the usual enthusiasm, the usual determination, and the usual desire to further demonstrate our strength, starting from Tuesday’s training session.”

A year later, has the opponent changed? And what about your Domotek? “The biggest differences are on our side,” Polimeni replies. “They obviously have their real strengths, key players who would certainly be starters on any other team aiming for Serie A2. Petras, Botto, Argenta, and Esposito are truly good players. It’s clear they faced a Domotek team that wanted to push ahead from the start. Aside from the second set, where we let a late lead slip, it was a match we had, one we dominated with consistency. And it was extremely important, because, as I repeat: Acqui Terme is a good team; it’s no coincidence that they eliminated top-tier teams like Castellana and Gioia del Colle.”

Regarding the lead they’ve gained and the series format, Polimeni doesn’t want to hear any certainties. I think we have to fight as always, for every ball. It’s clear we have a significant advantage, it’s clear we’re starting as the favorites, partly due to the format, but here everything is “unpredictable.” Every team, every match has its own story.

We have to take the field as if it were our first match. We have to forget the result—not how we got it—and we know their strengths, but also their weaknesses. We have to go in front of goal and play our game, not caring about the score or the result, but, as always, focusing on the performance. That’s what has always characterized us in the matches we’ve managed to finish.
