Even his last name is now too small for him. He’s Quarta, but this season with ErmGroup Altotevere will be his fifth. His name is Augusto, although everyone calls him “John,” the middle blocker from Bologna (33 next October) who, after the announced retirement of Niccolò Cappelletti, has become the veteran on the court for the white and blues. He closed the season nearing 1,700 career points: he’s in fact at 1,699 between Serie A2 and Serie A3, with 1,094 attacks scored, 86 aces, and some 519 blocks.
