Only a few days remain until the start of the Scudetto Finals, with Sir Susa Scai Perugia and Cucine Lube Civitanova preparing for a thrilling, unmissable, and above all spectacular Game 1—scheduled for Thursday, April 30th, at 8:30 PM. As the series approaches, today’s “Towards the Scudetto Finals” focuses primarily on players and coaches who have made history for both Perugia and Civitanova, with a special focus on a player who has ignited both the PalaBarton Energy and the Eurosuole Forum: Marko Podrascanin, the only former player in the Scudetto-winning match.
The Serbian center, with Italian sporting citizenship, is in his second season with Lube, following his time in the Marche region from 2008 to 2016; he first moved to the Block Devils for the 2016/17 season, ending with the 2019/20 championship. Potke, as he’s universally known, boasts four Scudetti, two of which were won with Lube.
Among his former doubles players are Simone Anzani, now with Valsa Group Modena: the Como-born middle blocker spent a year in Perugia (2017/18), before moving to Civitanova in 2019/20, and bidding farewell to the Marche fans in 2023/24. Davide Candellaro, currently the Perugia team manager, played for Civitanova for two seasons, but ended his competitive career in Perugia. Luciano De Cecco first came into contact with the SIR world in 2014/15, and became Civitanova’s setter in 2020/21, before ending his Italian career in Modena last year.
German spiker Denys Kaliberda also has two stints in Umbria and Marche: the first in 2015/16, with Perugia, and the following year he moved to Civitanova for a season. Fabio Ricci, who played in Serie A2 with Essence Hotels Fano in the final season, spent a year with Lube in 2012/13 (enriching the Marche team’s roster in December), while he spent four seasons in the SuperLega with Perugia. Kamil Rychlicki spent two seasons with Civitanova and two with Perugia, while Dragan Travica, fresh from winning the CEV Cup with Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza, spent two years with Lube between 2011 and 2013, while his two seasons in Umbria came between 2020 and 2022.
Completing the list is Ivan Zaytsev, a native of Spoleto who was admired for SIR between 2016 and 2018, while he had two distinct stints with Civitanova: one from 2012 to 2014 and a subsequent one from 2021 to 2024.
