ABBA Pineto is already on match point. Three days after their 3-1 home win at Pala Santa Maria, tomorrow (Wednesday) at 8:30 PM, the white-and-blues will return to the field against Alva Inox 2 Emme Service for Game 2 of the quarterfinals. Their series lead puts coach Simone Di Tommaso’s Adriatic side in a position to plan a coup: another win would seal the series and seal the Abruzzo team’s advance to the semifinals. But it will be anything but a walk in the park, as Paolo Di Silvestre and his teammates know only too well, on the field of an opponent who, at home, in the second half of the regular season, lost only to the mighty Ravenna and Brescia.
“We’ll face a very difficult match,” commented ABBA Pineto coach Simone Di Tommaso on the eve of the match, “because Porto Viro has shown throughout the second half of the season that they are a team in good form. They’re playing very well, and they showed their worth against us on Sunday, bringing good volleyball to Pineto as well. That’s why they’ll surely be able to play even better at home, and we’ll have to bring out our best performance to try and close out the series in Game 2. We know their strengths, and now we’ll have to be more consistent, give our game fewer breaks, and try to limit their strengths.
