Sonepar closed out their season at the Kioene Arena with their second match against Vero Volley Monza. After a match in which the Bianconeri attempted to stay in the match, especially in the final set, the visitors prevailed in three sets. However, the season remains positive, with the goal of staying up and staying in the top division achieved. For the match against coach Eccheli’s team, the Bianconeri lined up with Held, Truocchio, Todorovic, Orioli, Polo, Masulovic, and Diez (L). Davide Gardini was the top scorer for Sonepar, tallying 8 points (50% attack), while Diego Frascio, the match MVP, stood out for Monza, scoring 19 points (70% attack).

Coach Jacopo Cuttini: “We’ve reached this point in the season after spending a lot of time, both mentally and physically. It’s a choice we make every year: to start immediately with great intensity to try to be competitive as quickly as possible and earn the points needed to reach our goal. Right now, however, energy levels are inevitably low, and it showed on the court. Despite this, the boys tried to fight with determination. Overall, the season was excellent. We faced several difficulties, finding a new balance compared to previous years. It was a demanding but at the same time very stimulating journey, which the group faced with great willingness. We managed to pick up points at key moments, also playing high-level volleyball, and we managed to avoid relegation without any particular difficulty, thus achieving the goal we had set ourselves.”

Alberto Polo: “We definitely weren’t able to play our best game this evening. The coach gave everyone space, and as a team, we tried to find solutions to get back into the match. In the final set, we managed to stay within a point for a bit longer, but credit must be given to Monza for playing a good match. As for the season, I think it’s been a very positive one: we achieved our goal, which was to remain in Italy’s top league.”
