It’s not the first time a “champion from the North” has come to win in Reggio Calabria and decided to stay, forging an inextricable bond with the city of the Bronzes. For Enrico Lazzaretto, spiker for Domotek Volley, the integration process is now complete, or perhaps he’s been a Reggio native since his first training session. And after his latest, exhilarating victory, the national triumph in the Coppa Italia Del Monte in Serie A3, he spoke with the smile of someone who has just experienced a truly emotional moment.
“Now I feel like a Reggio native inside,” Lazzaretto begins, his voice still hoarse and a little tired from the celebrations. “I feel like a Reggio native both in my mannerisms and in my way of speaking: I even speak the dialect now, and because of the “frittole” I eat on Saturdays.”
The soul of a spiker blends perfectly with the spirit of a diverse yet united group. When asked about his role within the team, Lazzaretto doesn’t take individual credit, but rather praises the contribution of everyone, from the starters to the substitutes.
“It was a group where everyone contributed. We saw Motta on the pitch, I saw Parrini… You all came in with the right amount of pride, the right desire to win. Then Rigirozzo, Mancinelli, it went well.”
