A second victory in just a few days, and a series now in the kitchens’ favor: Cucine Lube Civitanova came from behind to win at Pala Agsm AIM and move up to a 2-1 lead in a Credem Banca Playoff Semifinal series that becomes more and more exciting with each passing match.
At Rana Verona, Fabio Soli’s men started strong, winning the first two sets (the second thanks to a late comeback that ended in deuce). From the third set onward, the spirit of the team, led by Giampaolo Medei, emerged. After tying the set count, they also had the strength to win a thrilling tie-break that ended with a service error by Noumory Keita.
The MVP of the evening was Aleksandar Nikolov, the match’s top scorer and Civitanova’s driving force: 22 total points, with 6 aces and 2 blocks. Eric Loeppky (17), Mattia Bottolo (13), and Marko Podrascanin (10) also scored double figures for the cooks. Verona’s duo of Darlan and Noumory Keita scored 21 points each, while Aleksandar Nedeljkovic scored 12 points as a substitute.
The game returns in a week for Game 4, scheduled for Saturday, April 18th (6:00 PM) at the Eurosuole Forum: Cucine Lube Civitanova will aim to advance to the Finals, while Rana Verona will try to bring the series to a close.
