Following the confirmations of Ionut Ambrose and Davide Diaferia, the middle block welcomes a valuable new addition: Leonardo Gabriel Sandu, born in 2007 and 6’1″, who arrives at Banca Macerata Fisiomed to play his first season in Serie A2 Credem Banca.
Born in Tarquinia, of Romanian origins, and raised as a volleyball player between Lazio and Trentino, Sandu brings with him a history that speaks volumes. He began his career at Etruria Volley, where he attracted the attention of one of the most prestigious clubs in the world: Itas Trentino. In 2022, he moved to Trento, where he completed the entire youth academy program, distinguishing himself as a key player in the Juniores team, culminating in promotion to the SuperLega roster in the 2025/26 season and his first summer call-up to the U22 national team. A season lived as the reigning Italian champion, with the privilege of training daily alongside world-class players like Flavio and Michieletto, before choosing Macerata as the stage for a great leap in growth and responsibility.
