Massimo Colaci is about to officially begin his new role as Director of Sir Susa Scai Perugia. Although he’s still formally a player until the end of June, the libero, who wore the black and white jersey for the last nine consecutive seasons of his long and successful career, is already planning his career:
“Even though I’m still a player until June 30th, I’m slowly starting to think about what will happen next. I’ve had a few chats with our Sporting Director, Goran, with Andrea Piacentini regarding the youth sector, and with team manager Davide Candellaro because we’ll be very close… to begin to understand certain dynamics in more detail. The tasks the President has entrusted to me are very clear and well-defined, so I’m starting to get a general idea and then, over time, delve into more specifics!”
The Technical Director returns to the Juventus management team: Colaci will fill the role previously held by current Sporting Director, Goran Vujevic. It’s a role that combines representation duties with coordination in general planning and transfer negotiations: “It’s a new job, I’ll definitely need to gain some experience and learn certain things, even just how to interact with my former teammates in a different way. I’ll have several tasks, from being a little closer to the youth sector, to paying more attention to the Italian market in general, and to the slightly younger players; I’ll also have a representation role, standing in for the President on certain occasions, being close to Goran himself in certain transfer situations for the first team, evaluating various situations, existing contracts, what the future might hold, and the transfer market in general. What I’d like to do is be very close to the youth team players and make them feel the club’s presence. I think it’s important for the players in our youth sector to feel the presence of the first team management because it can be a motivation, and then clearly there will be various things to organize and sort out throughout the year, also based on the situations that arise!”
