Plus Volleyball Sabaudia is restarting with Michele Totire. The Bari-born coach, who has lived in Loano, Liguria, for many years, will lead the Pontine team in the upcoming Serie A3 championship, effectively ushering in a new era for the club after a season that culminated in a historic qualification for the Coppa Italia Final Four and a playoff appearance.

A seasoned coach, Totire brings to Sabaudia a career built over the years in Serie A1, A2, and A3, working with major clubs and top-tier youth teams. The management has chosen this profile to ensure continuity in the club’s growth, but also to further raise its ambitions. From 2014 to 2017, he was the head coach of the Under-21 and Under-23 national teams.
“Gigi Goldner and Paolo Torre contacted me to work with them and outlined their goals and plans,” says Totire, who approaches this new experience with enthusiasm but also with the confidence of someone who knows the dynamics of the league well. “Expectations must always be high, especially when you’re starting your first year with a new club. I always say that a team gets what it deserves, and we will work to deserve the best possible.”

Totire describes himself as a coach accustomed to dealing with different situations and players, capable of adapting to different contexts without sacrificing the principles he considers fundamental. “The relationship with the players will be one of the central aspects of his work,” he explains. “I always try to create an environment of mutual trust: the players must understand that I respect their work, and they must do the same towards me. When this atmosphere exists, often special rules aren’t even necessary.”

Along with discipline, there’s another element he considers indispensable: the pleasure of being in the gym and working together. “Fun is an important component, and I like to feel it while working,” concludes the coach from Puglia. “Over the years, I’ve followed the progress of the Pontine club, and in recent weeks, I’ve had the opportunity to meet at length with the management. I follow all volleyball, including Sabaudia. From the many phone calls with the club, I’ve realized I have well-prepared, experienced, and attentive managers at my side. I believe we have everything we need to get off to a good start and work well.”

The arrival of Michele Totire therefore represents the first step in the new season for Plus Volleyball Sabaudia, a phase that will lead the club to build a new roster and define the goals for the upcoming championship, while maintaining the desire for growth that has accompanied the Pontine club’s progress in recent years.
