Piacenza flies to Berlin for the first leg of the quarterfinals
Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza will take to the court tomorrow, Wednesday, March 4th, at 7:30 PM, for the first leg of the CEV Cup quarterfinals against the German team Berlin Recycling Volleys.
After finishing fifth in the SuperLega Credem Banca Regular Season, the Emilian team returns to Europe for a double-header that will be crucial to the ambitions of coach Boninfante’s club. The return match is scheduled for Wednesday, March 11th at the PalaBancaSport in Piacenza.
Bovolenta and his teammates arrive at the match after having authoritatively defeated Poland’s JSW Jastrzębski Węgiel in the playoffs. The German team, however, is making its CEV Cup debut this season after failing to qualify for the next round of the CEV Champions League, finishing third in Pool C (the same group as Perugia, a team against which Berlin suffered two clear 3-0 defeats). This finish still guarantees access to the second-largest continental competition.
Berlin currently leads the Bundesliga and boasts a top-tier roster, including Ruben Schott, a spiker with a stint in Milan.
