The Del Monte® Supercoppa SuperLega was presented this morning in the Council Chamber of the City of Trieste, with the 30th edition of the event taking place in Trieste over the weekend of February 28th and March 1st.
Roberto Dipiazza (Mayor of the City of Trieste): “Today I am proud to be Mayor of Trieste, and I thank those who made this possible. Trieste is a wonderful city, which is also making incredible progress in the sporting arena.”
Massimo Righi (President of the Serie A Volleyball League): “I thank the City Council for its hospitality. We are delighted to be in Trieste, returning here to celebrate the 30th edition of the Super Cup, 19 years after our last visit. The crowd that showed up on that occasion is one of the reasons we returned: with our events, we want to offer opportunities like this to the Italian community. It will be one of the best spectacles in the entire sporting landscape: the Super League is considered one of the best championships in the world. The four clubs that will compete in Trieste represent the pinnacle of the sport. We hope that an event like this will also generate positive effects on the host community. Only through hard work and trust can significant results be achieved.”
Alessandro Michelli (President of the FIPAV Friuli-Venezia Giulia Regional Committee): “There’s no sport more inclusive than ours; you always need a teammate nearby to complete the action. I’d like to thank, first and foremost, the Municipality of Trieste and the Friuli-Venezia Giulia Region: without them, we wouldn’t have been able to host top-level events like the ones we’ve hosted in recent years. I also thank the Lega Pallavolo Serie A, which believed in and invested in Trieste, a city that hasn’t seen top-level men’s volleyball in many years.”
Elisa Lodi (Councilor for Real Estate and Sports Policies of the Municipality of Trieste): “Thank you for choosing to bring the 30th edition of the Super Cup to Trieste: we are proud to host it here. There is passion and affection for volleyball in the city: a wonderful showcase for Trieste, and not just from a sporting perspective. The Municipality of Trieste will always be open to events like this: sport is a valuable tool, even for our youth. We can only be the capital of sport during the Super Cup weekend.”
Fabio Fistetto (CEO of Lega Pallavolo Serie A): “We are delighted to have been able to organize such an event in such a short timeframe: an achievement made possible thanks to the collaboration of all stakeholders. The goal is to give fans and enthusiasts two days of incredible excitement: thanks to the media coverage that will be dedicated to the Super Cup, we are confident that the event will be highly regarded. The thirtieth edition is taking place for the first time during a “non-traditional” period: this year it will be held on the eve of the start of the playoffs, when the teams are in peak technical form.”
Andrea Marcon (President of the CONI Friuli-Venezia Giulia Territorial Committee): “This is a great opportunity for the city of Trieste and the surrounding area: we are pleased that Lega Pallavolo Serie A has decided to host an important event like the Super Cup in Trieste: an event not to be missed.”
