Two weeks after their last regular-season match—the 3-0 victory on March 29 against Essence Hotels Fano—the red and white team met the following Tuesday to begin preparations for tomorrow’s match, with a very short break for the Easter holidays in between. Captain Fortunato and his teammates thus had all the time they needed to recover, balance training and rest days, and arrive in Prata in the best possible condition.
Coach Waldo Kantor summarized the recent weeks in his traditional pre-match press conference: “In the last regular-season game, we had nothing to ask of the standings, yet we played as usual, with the same intensity and spirit as every Sunday. The team didn’t want to betray its identity: we took the field with the sole thought of earning every available point, because we wanted to give our fans another joy. For me, this is the boys’ greatest achievement, and we celebrated it as it deserved.
