Domotek Volley is preparing to take the court for Game 2 of the promotion playoff finals to secure Serie A2 status. After an away loss to Conad Reggio Emilia, Coach Polimeni’s Amaranth team is called upon to respond in front of their home crowd to keep their hopes of promotion alive.
Simone Rigirozzo will host the match, scheduled for Sunday, March 29th at 6:00 PM at PalaCalafiore. The Roman middle blocker, born in 2006, is one of the team’s most talented young players, and he spoke ahead of a match that will allow no distractions.
“We’re back with a huge desire for redemption,” Rigirozzo began. “We’ll need the roaring Reggio Calabria we’ve seen in all our home games.”
A call to arms for the fans, called upon to support the team at a crucial moment of the season. Why should those who have never come to Domotek come this Sunday? “Because we need the cheering, we need the support of all the Reggio Emilia fans,” explains the center-back. “It looks like it’s going to be a very intense, very high-level match, so we need the cheering.”
What kind of match will Game 2 be? Rigirozzo has no doubts: “It’s going to be a very intense Game 2, because we still have to do better than Game 1. We’re at home, we have to give it our all, as always. We’ve already faced Reggio Emilia, winning the Coppa Italia, so we know our opponent, so we can definitely do better.”
He’s referring to the first leg, which they lost away, but they know they can compete on equal terms with the Emilians. After all, the coach has also said it: Domotek can easily compete on equal terms, as they demonstrated in the Coppa Italia, where they triumphed.
“Of course,” confirms Rigirozzo. “Both teams have a very high technical level, with top-notch players, so it looks like it will be a high-level match at the PalaCalafiore.”
