Romeo Sorrento rounds out its roster with a sensational signing: the arrival of spiker Pietro Merlo.
Pietro Merlo was born in Thiene (VI) on June 21, 1999 (198 cm). He comes from a background of professional basketball, as his father, Paolo, was a former middle blocker for Sernagiotto Padova and Charro Padova from 1989 to 1991 (he also played in Modena, Treviso, Schio, Montichiari, and Rome), as did his mother, Paola Finozzi, a former Serie A basketball player with Schio. Pietro grew up with Avolley di Schio-Torrebelvicino, a club within the Pallavolo Padova circuit, and also played two seasons in the youth sector of Kioene Padova. In 2021, he spent a season in San Donà in Serie A3, the following year in Pineto, also in Serie A3, then moved to Fano in Serie A3 and for two years, again with Fano, in Serie A2.

Yes, exactly. I’ve decided to embrace this project because I truly believe in this incredibly important sporting entity. For bureaucratic reasons, we’ll be playing in Serie A3, but that doesn’t mean our league will be any less important. I know I’ll find a very warm and familiar atmosphere in Sorrento. The president and I have been in touch for several years during the summer and transfer window, and deep down, even though we’ve always made other decisions, I’ve always liked the idea of being part of Romeo Sorrento.
