Yesterday, March 8th, was a special Sunday at the PalaPanini, marking International Women’s Day, bringing together sport, recognition of female talent, and the involvement of young women.
Before the match between Modena Volley and Piacenza, the yellow-blue crowd paid tribute to a great figure in Modena and Italian sport, Adriana Serra Zanetti. The former Modena tennis champion was greeted with a prolonged applause from the more than 3,400 spectators in the stands, who wanted to pay tribute to a high-level career. Serra Zanetti was the first Italian in history to reach the quarterfinals at the Australian Open, a result that cemented her place among the stars of international tennis. To celebrate this important moment, Modena Volley patron Christian Storci presented Adriana Serra Zanetti with a yellow-blue jersey, symbolizing the strong bond between Modena’s sport and its excellence. Today, Serra Zanetti continues to be a central figure in the city’s sports movement: he is the technical director of the Modena Tennis Club, a role through which he contributes daily to the growth and development of new generations of tennis players.
