Celebration, victory, and a historic record: all this in a single day for Sir Susa Scai Perugia, who, following their triumph in the 30th edition of the Del Monte® Supercoppa SuperLega, can now enjoy a victory in the final against Rana Verona, defeated in four sets. A historic victory, indeed: Perugia is the first club to win the competition four consecutive times and, thanks to their victory at the PalaTrieste, they have tied Treviso for the most wins (seven in total for the Block Devils).
Angelo Lorenzetti, Perugia coach, surrounded by his players
Angelo Lorenzetti (Coach Sir Susa Scai Perugia): “A beautiful match for a club that has won so much in recent years and continues to be happy when it wins. The white segment was the largest of all and also the one that came from furthest away. We’re happy to give such satisfaction. Technically, both teams were never truly consistent: both had excuses, but in any case, it was a great final. The only disappointment in the first set was the disjointed serving style, which weighed down our start to the second set. It was a unique Super Cup, uncomfortable for the period in which it was played but different from the others. In this cup, we put in more work. I’m truly happy.”
All the joy from Gino Sirci, owner of Sir Susa Scai Perugia
Gino Sirci (President of Sir Susa Scai Perugia): “This is the seventeenth trophy we’ve won since joining the Super League. But it’s not enough! We really wanted this Super Cup; we wanted to erase the poor impression we made in Bologna. We really wanted this victory: a great job by the coach and the team, who interpreted Lorenzetti’s teachings well. It’s a wonderful moment to represent Perugia. This was a somewhat unexpected achievement: it tells us that Perugia has returned to being a strong team that deserves to be at the top of the league and is aiming to be a key player in the playoffs. I dedicate the trophy to my wife, who suffers and rejoices with me and also deserves these victories.”
Simone Giannelli, Perugia’s captain, enjoys his Super Cup triumph with a medal around his neck
Simone Giannelli (Captain Sir Susa Scai Perugia): “I’m happy to be part of this story, happy to contribute alongside my teammates to upholding Perugia’s reputation. Not only in victories but also in defeats: we always give it our all, even during the week. It was a top-level match against an incredible opponent who can count on important individuals, like Darlan, who is playing at an incredible level.
