The third return to the Campi Reali Cantù jersey for the 2026/2027 season is Francesco Gianotti, a setter born in 2003 in Desio, who already played in the shadow of the San Paolo bell tower between 2022 and 2024. After two seasons away, he has accepted the challenge posed by Coach Tommaso Invernici and President Ambrogio Molteni.

Coach Tommaso Invernici commented on the return: “Another player who has already played for Cantù. Francesco is a great guy, with a great desire to do well and prove himself.”

These are the player’s words: “I’m returning to Cantù, and I’m very happy to do so. After two years bouncing around between Napoli, Monza, and Cecina in Serie B, I’m happy to return to an environment I know well, and where I had a great time. I had two wonderful years: we reached the semifinal of the DelMonte® Coppa Italia Serie A2, the semifinal of the Promotion Playoffs, and the final of the DelMonte® Supercoppa Serie A2. The second year, results-wise, went a little worse, but the fact remains that we’re happy here, and that made me inclined to accept the offer. On a personal level, the goal is to always improve, every year, and try to create a cohesive relationship with the team, which then makes the seasons go well or badly. On paper, the rosters can be more or less strong, but in the end it all depends on how all the elements fit together. That must be a must for every season, and that’s what makes, in my opinion, the seasons go well or badly.” The year is about how we mesh together. We’ll have to try to create a good group and work to improve in all aspects. So the goal is to try to get along as well as possible with my teammates and create a good group both on and off the pitch.”
