A derby worth three points and a stunning fourth place. A chasing Sarlux Sarroch, chasing this finish since the first half of the season when they were chasing qualification for the Coppa Italia, secured it on the final day of the regular season thanks to Mantua’s simultaneous defeat at Trebaseleghe. In front of a large crowd, Sarroch and Cagliari retaliated with a thrilling and hard-fought match: for both, it was now time to get serious, it was playoff time.

Coach Denora Caporusso said after the match:

“I imagine the crowd had fun, and that’s a positive thing. Perhaps the match wasn’t exactly great from a technical standpoint, but the final two sets really got the adrenaline pumping. It went pretty much as we wanted; the goal was to attack them on serve, and we succeeded in the first two sets. After that, they solved situations better and improved on the high ball, making our job more difficult. We’re finishing the regular season in fourth place, which I think is an exceptional result considering the entire process and the events. I don’t think anyone would have bet on it after the first five days, yet from there we’ve made increasingly significant strides thanks to the dedication of the players and the staff. Now comes the most adrenaline-fueled part, and we can’t wait to show our cards.”
