Samuele Papi, born in Ancona in 1973, will be the assistant coach of Gas Sales Bluenergy Volley Piacenza for the next two seasons. He will work alongside coach Dante Boninfante in leading the red and white team.
After finishing his playing career in Piacenza at the end of the 2016-2017 season, Samuele Papi now returns to the city that saw him star in six consecutive championships.
The former Italian player has almost thirty years of playing experience behind him, with 339 appearances for the national team and an impressive list of achievements, both with his clubs (Falconara, Treviso, Cuneo, Piacenza) and with the national team: two World Cups, three European Championships, five World Leagues, six Scudetti, three Champions Leagues, and six Italian Cups, the last of which he won while playing for Piacenza, are just some of the trophies in the “O Fenomeno” trophy cabinet.
