The addition of a quality middle blocker for the 2026/27 season will boost his charisma and experience. A.S. Volley Lube announces the signing of Alberto Polo, arriving from Sonepar Padova. Originally from Bassano del Grappa and standing 202 cm tall, the Vicenza native already made a name for himself in the Marche region in 2014/15, playing for B-Chem Potenza Picena, making a significant contribution to the Credem Banca Serie A2 playoff victory and also winning the Badiali Award for best U23 player.
Produced in the Bassano youth academy and joining the Trentino Volley youth system in 2012, where he won a Junior League title, Alberto immediately stood out in Potenza, just a few kilometers from Civitanova. He then played for CMC Romagna in the SuperLega and, subsequently, Exprivia Molfetta. Having become a key player in the top division, Polo further improved his shot-making skills during his three-year stint at Kioene Padova, earning the Badiali Award in the 2017/18 SuperLega season and subsequently a call-up from ambitious Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza. At the peak of his career, however, the rising middle blocker faced a four-year suspension. A waking nightmare that strengthened Alberto as a man without weakening him as an athlete. This was demonstrated by his return to the field for Padua, in the 2024/25 5th Place Playoffs and for the entire 2025/26 season, where he finished with 31 block winners, ranked ninth among all block specialists.
The newcomer to the red and white team also boasts a track record in international competitions: Highlights include a bronze medal with the Under-23 national team at the 2015 World Championships, a debut with the senior national team at the 2018 Mediterranean Games, and victory at the 2019 Universiade (best block).
