After spending several seasons in Civitanova with Lube, a top team and veteran of the Superleague, Valentina Innocenzi decided to get back into the game last season, joining the newly promoted Yuasa Battery. A nutritionist with extensive experience in sports and volleyball, despite her young age, she quietly entered the small, great world of M&G Volleyball School, immediately finding fertile ground: “I found a very familiar and close-knit environment, where everyone was ready to lend me a hand if needed. I felt welcomed with open arms and valued professionally, which is not a given.” Always smiling, but with great professionalism when the conversation turns to work: “I try to listen to the guys and understand how I can support them nutritionally, to give them a solid foundation on which to build physical training, and thus put them in the best condition for the technical work and the season in general. To do this, I use bioimpedance, a machine that can detect inflammation in the athlete, scales, and skinfold measurements performed using the ISAK methodology. I then develop personalized diets and manage supplementation.”
