Gas Sales Bluenergy Sitting Volley closed its season with a respectable third-place finish in the Italian Cup, held at the PalaVejanum Pietro Mennea in Viggiano, in the province of Potenza. In the 3rd-4th place final, they defeated ASD Fiano Romano 3-1 (25-22, 25-23, 17-25, 25-14), with the red-and-whites imposing their pace and play from the first rally.
In the semifinal played on Saturday, Gas Sales Bluenergy Sitting Volley was defeated by SDP Fermana 3-0 (25-21, 25-15, 25-23), while in the other semifinal, I Santi Ortopedie Nola defeated ASD Fiano Romano 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-16).
The red and whites, Italian runners-up, failed to repeat their performance in Basilicata, having defeated SDP Fermana in the semifinals in Reggio Emilia two weeks ago in the Final Four.
The Italian Men’s Sitting Volleyball Cup was won for the seventh consecutive time by I Santi Ortopedie Nola, who came from behind to defeat SDP Fermana 3-1 in the final (23-25, 25-14, 25-21, 25-20).
