It’s a special week for coach Marco Marzola, volleyball-wise. Tomorrow (Saturday, November 15, at 8:30 PM), at the Pala Bigi, Belluno Volley will face the current top-seeded team in the Serie A3 white group, Credem Banca: Conad Reggio Emilia, which has so far managed to secure 12 of its 12 points.
“The match won’t decide the outcome of our season; the championship is still too long,” says Marzola. “However, there’s no doubt we’ll be facing a highly-rated team, and as a result, the points will be worth a little more. In any case, I don’t think a win for either team will determine who will finish ahead at the end of the regular season.” The white-and-blues return to the taraflex after a weekend off, imposed by the calendar: “We’ve used this time to catch our breath, but also to work on some technical aspects.”
It’s not just the papers that say it, but the numbers and facts as well: Reggio Emilia is one of the most likely contenders for promotion. “Conad was built to win the championship,” warns the Belluno team leader, “and they play excellent volleyball. I know a couple of the players very well, having coached them in the past.”
