The decision between Consar Ravenna and Virtus Aversa will be made tomorrow at 6 p.m. at the Pala De Andrè. The two teams earned the right to play Game 3 of the quarterfinals after winning their respective home games: Ravenna 3-1 last Sunday and Graziosi’s team 3-0 on Wednesday night, a victory that ended their seasonal losing streak against Ravenna. Now everything returns to Romagna, with Valentini’s team, thanks to the favorable home-field advantage resulting from their fourth-place finish in the regular season, able to play the decisive match in front of their home fans. The winner of tomorrow’s match (free live on the Dazn platform and delayed on Tuesday, April 21st at 3 p.m. on Tele Romagna channel 78, with Antonio Gaetano from Lamezia Terme and Roberto Russo from Savona refereeing) will face the winner of Pineto-Porto Viro, who also play Game 3 tomorrow. The first semifinal match is scheduled for next Wednesday, April 22nd. The other two quarterfinal matches of the Credem Banca A2 series have already been decided in Game 2: Consoli Sferc Brescia and Tinet Prata have reached the semifinals.
“We are aware that in Game 2 against Aversa we lacked some control in the game and made a few too many mistakes,” commented Andrea Canella, a center in his second season with Consar. “We will obviously have to limit these mistakes in tomorrow’s match, especially in attack, to avoid those mini-breaks that we can’t always recover from. Since returning from Aversa, we’ve been working hard on this aspect in training, but we’ve also been working on defense and coverage.”
Ravenna is eager to advance: the idea of returning to play, as they did in 2023/24, in a semifinal is appealing to the entire Ravenna team. Qualification would be further recognition of the excellent year Goi and his teammates have had, finishing in the top four of the league for the third year in a row. “We’re pleased with the year we’ve had and know how much work has gone into this result,” Canella observes, “but it’s clear we don’t want to stop here. Aversa has proven to be an experienced and dangerous team: to beat them, we’ll need to return to playing high-quality volleyball and delivering a top-notch performance, as we’ve so often done this season.
