Plus Volleyball Sabaudia adds experience, quality, and personality to the center of the net. The Pontine club has officially announced the arrival of Carmelo Gitto, a Sicilian middle blocker born in 1987 who brings over twenty years of experience at the highest levels of Italian volleyball, with a career that has seen him play in the Superleague, Serie A2, and Serie A3.

This is a long-awaited arrival for Gitto. His relationship with the Pontine area and the contacts he’s had with the club over the years helped make his decision to wear the Sabaudia jersey a natural one.

“They didn’t need much convincing because there had been interest in coming to Sabaudia for a few years, also because we were often in contact during the various transfer windows, and my connection to this area did the rest,” said Gitto, who experienced a period of great excitement in Latina with the team in the Superleague. “I’ve always seen a passionate club that strives every year to build balanced and competitive teams because it wants to do well and is ambitious. Serie A3 is a very difficult and level championship, with difficult pitches to play on and where the strongest team or the one that plays the best game doesn’t always win.”
