A promising addition to Pallavolo La Bollente, which has secured the services of spiker Simone Bertoncello.

Born in 2007, the young and talented winger, a 2022/23 European champion with the U17 national team, arrives in Acqui Terme after two seasons in Ravenna, where he simultaneously completed his youth career and made his debut in Serie A2.

“I’m definitely ready and, in fact, I’m really excited for this adventure in Acqui,” says Simone Bertoncello. “This will be my first ever season in Serie A3, an important stage that comes after the two intense years I just experienced and faced in Ravenna in Serie A2.”

Simone’s career, however, began much earlier, back home: “Before Ravenna, I was in Bassano del Grappa, my hometown, where I played for Bassano Volley, and that’s where I took my first steps in the youth teams. I’d actually never played in a national final before. Then, with Ravenna, we achieved great results: last year we took second place in the Junior League, and this year we finished fourth. As for this year’s Under-19 national finals, however, we advanced to the qualifying rounds but were eliminated against Monza. In Ravenna, I played in both Serie A2 and the youth teams.”

The experience in Ravenna was my first away from home: “Ravenna was, in effect, my first real sporting and life experience away from home, far from my hometown. Consequently, as is normal for a boy my age, there was a natural adjustment period during my first year. I feel like I’ve grown a lot, both as an athlete and as a person, over these last two seasons. However, now I feel a strong desire to play more consistently, to show off my skills, and to prove something important on the court.”
