ROMA – Sisley is the second team to win at the Palazzetto of the Sport but, even more important, wins Game1 of the Playoff Semifinals against M. Roma Volley with the score of 2-3 (25-23, 25-18, 20-25, 18-25, 8-15). Two faces match: great Roma in the first two sets, powerful Treviso in the last three.
Osvaldo Hernandez scored the first point of the 2007 Semifinals. Great balance for the first part of the match (7-8), with a lot of serve errors by both teams. Bagnoli replaces Ahmed with Vermiglio and Treviso is back with its normal starting six. M. Roma serves make the difference, especially with Savani & Kooistra, and Rome flies to 17-14. Also Gustavo serves well (18-17), getting his team closer with an ace. But Savani scores the first set ball (25-22).
Second set with Vermiglio on court since the beginning. Rome plays much better. Treviso makes too many error in attack and in serving. After the second time out Roma is ahead 16-10. Ace also for Toffoli and score reaches 19-11. A great Hernandez closes also the second set and score an impressing 88% in attack.
Tencati serves gives problems to M. Roma in passing and Sisley scores a break (3-8). After the second time out Treviso is ahead 16-11. M. Roma tries to recover and get closer in the score (17-20), but Treviso closed the thrid set with the score of 20-25. Treviso plays better after the victory of the third set and starts strong also in the 4th (5-8). Rome passing gives not the chance to Tofoli to set at his best for his spikers and Treviso blocks has an easy job to do and control Rome attacks and spikes (8-12). Also the fourth set goes to Treviso and Sisley wins it 25-18.
Roma is shocked and did not start well also the tiebreak (1-4). Osvaldo tries to keep in the match his team but Papi & Fei do not make any error (8-12). Treviso eventually wins the set (8-15) and the match (2-3).
Roberto Serniotti (Coach of Roma): “These are the playoff: the best teams arrive here, teams that never give up not even when they are down 2 sets to zero. We should have tried to stop theri reaction when we were ahead 2-0 but we have not been able to do it. Now we have to cancel immidiately the loss and start from the errors made today”.
Samuele Papi (Treviso): “We started really badly but mainly because of Roma. The first set has been just lost, the second, on the other hand, has clearly gone to Rome because we did not play well at all. In the third set they started to drop a little their game level and we have been able to react. In the tiebreak then you need luck. I am happy especailly because of the team passing. Tomorrow we will rest and we will start to get ready for the Saturday match. Roma has shown to be a great team”.
