There was little Gioia del Colle could do Against Latina in the playoffs final game 1. In a remake of the Italian Cup, once again it’s Latina that came out on top. Despite a few lapses, especially in the last set, it imposed its rhythm in the key moments of the game with an outstanding Leondino Giombini. Gioia only had rare moments when it could play face to face with the hosts. One of these moments was the third set: they started ahead 7-9 and managed to keep this advantage until the end of the set, at least until Giombini went on the serve for Latina. The captain stayed on the 9 meter-line for a while, thanks to Rosalba and Kovacevic’s accuracy in attack (they combined for 33 points). That was the end of Gioia’s attempt at coming back in the game.

The next encounter is scheduled on Saturday 9 May at 8.30 in Gioia del Colle.

Daniele Ricci (Andreoli Latina): “We made a lot of mistakes, but we always managed to regain the control of things when it was most needed. Like against Bassano, we had some lapses, but we never lost our way and we stayed in the game. A couple of months ago, we would never have won one of those games. That’s why I’m very happy with the performance and with the reaction from the boys”.
