Poey and Portuondo will face the Italian National team in the All Star Game. A true miracle if we consider that the two Cubans of Roma were literally erased and looking for a job despite their position of “political refugees”.
“We had to justify our presence in Italy – explained Poey – so we needed a job, something that could allow us to survive while we were waiting for the disqualification for not going to the meeting with the Cuban national team to expire. It’s been tough but we overcame this period thanks to the help of our teammates, Massimo Mezzaroma and Vittorio Sacripanti”.
