Serie A1 TIM – League playoffs

Saturday: Macerata vs Modena game 4

Fourth as well for Treviso and Monza on Sunday

On Saturday at 4pm, Modena will try to level things up against Macerata after having won game 3 at home. If Prandi’s team was to clinch it, it would be all down to the fifth encounter, to be played on Thursday 15. On the other hand, if Macerata wins it, it will be through to the semi-final, in which it would face Trentino, which already qualified (3-0 over Verona).

Following its triumph in the Pala Verde, Treviso is heading to Monza with a 2-1 advantage. Monza wants the dream to go on and will be determined to push the series to game 5. The winner of this series will meet Cuneo, already qualified at the expense of Piacenza (3-0).

Lube Banca Marche Macerata – Trenkwalder Modena

(1-2Macerata)

Game 1: Trenkwalder Modena – Lube Banca Marche Macerata 1-3 (23-25, 25-20, 19-25, 23-25)

Game 2: Lube Banca Marche Macerata – Trenkwalder Modena 3-2 (21-25, 25-21, 25-18, 21-25, 15-11)

Game 3: Trenkwalder Modena – Lube Banca Marche Macerata 3-2 (21-25, 25-22, 14-25, 25-23, 15-11)

Alessandro Paparoni (Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “This is Modena’s last chance, so they will give their maximum to push the series to game 5. We’ll have to face this game with the same spirit because, after our missed opportunity of last Sunday, we really want to seal it and go to the semi-finals without having to go through game 5, which would be very dangerous. We know we can make it and our fans will give us the extra push, which is crucial”.

Angel Dennis (Trenkwalder Modena): “We did well to get back in the series in game 3: This gave us confidence and will to do more. We are confident, we know we’re facing a great team, which will want to finish it off in what will be a great atmosphere in their gym. This will be our 7th meeting this season and technically, it will be like all the others: to win against them, we need to serve well, block well, and keep a high level of play. All in all, we need to play at our best. There might be ups and downs during the game, but what we need to do, like in game 3, is to stay focused”.

Game 4

Acqua Paradiso Monza – Sisley Treviso

(2-1 Treviso)

Game 1: Sisley Treviso – Acqua Paradiso Monza 3-2 (25-20, 25-21,22-25,22-25, 15-11)

Game 2: Acqua Paradiso Monza – Sisley Treviso 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-17)

Game 3: Sisley Treviso – Acqua Paradiso Monza 3-1 (25-20, 25-22, 22-25, 25-12)

Enrico Marchioni (DS Acqua Paradiso Monza): “Our one last chance, but it will be home and our fans with help us to try to send to series to game 5. We want to go back to Treviso and we will give it our best shot to make it. On the other side of the net, there is Treviso, which made the history of Italian Volleyball, but we know that if we play at our best, we can clearly play face to face with them. To make the breakthrough in our PalaIper gym like in game 2 would be a dream for all of us but the boys, staff and collaborators are all working to achieve this”.

Mauro Berruto (Acqua Paradiso Monza): “I kept repeating one thing to the boys this week: We’ll go back to Treviso”.

Samuele Papi (Sisley Treviso): “It will be a tough game, like it has always been this season against Monza. Another battle to face with the same spirit as in game 3. Then we’ll just see if that’s enough or if the series goes on. This time, though, unlike game 2, it will be a different Treviso team in Monza, I’m convinced of that. In the second game, we did not even try: poor technically and in terms of attitude. The other night at the PalaVerde, we showed our worth so I am certain that we will use the past experiences to try to get a good result on Sunday”.
