Break from the league for Macerata today as the new Champions League campaign was presented. The club will make its debut in the competition next Thursday at home against the Russian team of Lokomotiv Novosibirsk, the national cup winner. The other teams of the group are Fenerbahce, the champion from Turkey and Innsbruck from Austria.

“A tough group – said captain Omrcen – But I think that our team has what it takes to do well in this competition, and taking part in it is something prestigious for the club”.

Coach Giuliani looked ahead as well: “I think I can safely say this is the tightest group of the whole competition. It looks like it’s a 50-50 chance between Fenerbahce, Novosibirsk and ourselves, but Innsbruck should not be underestimated either, it is a quality team”.
