Serie A1

Round 3 postponed game

Both winners last weekend, Trento and Modena will meet tomorrow in a postponed game of round 3 as Trentino was involved in the World Club Championships. Beaten at the start of the season by Vibo Valentia, and then with two games postponed, Trento had some ground to make but it did not take them long to move back up the table as they put on a superb run. Stoytchev’s boys are now just four points away from the leaders Macerata. As for Modena, they regained confidence and enthusiasm with their victory over Cuneo and will try to consolidate their presence in the top 8 in order to take part in the Italian cup.

PAST ENCOUNTERS: 40 (25-15 Trento)

Emanuele Birarelli (Itas Diatec Trentino): “Our fortune will depend as usual mainly on ourselves. It will depend on our attitude one game after another and how we handle all the close games physically. This will be yet another mid-week encounter close to a road game for us. Despite the gap between us and Modena in the table, nobody expects an easy game. They will come up here full of confidence after their win over Cuneo and they will try to make it tough for us. They have a lot of young players willing to show their worth. All the pressure will be on us, but in the recent past we have proved we could live with it without too much problem”.

Angelo Lorenzetti (coach Casa Modena): “This week we’re up against the giants of this league (Cuneo last Sunday, now Trento and Macerata next), what we’ll have to do is try to do as well as possible what we’ve seen in training. Wins and losses depend on many factors, at the end of each game, you need to make an accurate analysis, no matter the result. The Cuneo win certainly brought back the smile on our face, but we have so much work ahead, we have to keep improving with the enthusiasm we had. Everybody knows how strong is Trento, we have to free our mind of any useless thoughts and focus on executing the things we can do”.
