Tie-break win for Molfetta over Modena

For the first time this season, Molfetta was involved in a game that did not finish on a 3-0 score. Indeed, thus far they had only won or lost in straight sets. Still, they were well on their way to achieve another of these victories when they took a 2-0 lead, but Modena fought back. In the tie-break Modena took an 11-8 lead through Sala but Sabbi had not said his last word. He scored four points and when Sket missed his serve, it was all tied at 13. Bartman scored before Piscopo found the winning block that got the arena go crazy.
Juan Manuel Cichello (coach Exprivia Molfetta): “We played two good sets, but we wasted too many opportunities in the third. Then in the fourth, we played better. In the fifth, it looked as though we were going to lead easily but Modena would not give up and made it very hard for us. We wanted to get points, turn things around after the last two games and we managed that with two points. I am glad for the fans and the city, which is at the top level of Italian volleyball, we’re building a treasure that cannot be wasted”.
Thomas Beretta (Casa Modena): “This is kind of a strange period for us, coming back from two sets down in this gym was extremely difficult. We are two teams of the same level, unfortunately at the end, they are the ones who clinched it because of our mistakes. We’ll make up for it after the break when we meet Cuneo at home”.
