In its last pre-season friendly game, Verona was defeated by Padova on the road. Verona was without spiker Gabriele and outside hitter Bellei, while middle blocker Anzani was back as he recovered from his ankle injury.
“We have not played this friendly game to the best of our abilities – said coach Giani – I expected to make some progress in some situations on which we worked this week but we did not manage to do that”.
