The Italian Champions will take part in the World Club Championships 2014, to take place in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, from 5th to 10th of June thanks to a wild card. This is the latest news that the FIVB announced on its official site. Trentino won the competition four times in a row from 2009 to 2012.
“The invitation we received from the Fivb is an honour for us and this makes us really proud because this confirms how important the club is considered to be on the international scene – explained president Diego Mosna – This will therefore be our sixth consecutive participation , which means Italian volleyball will be present once again and Trento will have a chance of another medal”.
Besides Trentino, the other teams will be Esperance (African Champion), Belogorie Belgorod (Russia, European Champions), Matim Varanim (Iran, Asian champions), the hosts Sada (Brazil, the holders), San Juan (Argentina), Guaynabo Mets (Puerto rico) and Al-Rayyan (Qatar, second wild card). The eight teams will be divided into two groups, the top two of each group will qualify for the semi-finals. The draw of the two groups will soon take place in Brazil.
