MODENA VOLLEY – TOP VOLLEY LATINA 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-18)

MODENA VOLLEY: Mossa De Rezende 6, Boninfante, Casadei, Rossini (L), Ngapeth 16, Piano 7, Verhees 7, Kovacevic 13, Vettori 10. DNP Donadio, Sala, Petric, Ishikawa. Coach. Lorenzetti.

TOP VOLLEY LATINA: Manià (L), Rauwerdink 9, Sottile, Skrimov 3, Van De Voorde 7, Rossi 3, Starovic 8, Semenzato 1, Urnaut 7. DNP Pellegrino, Tailli, Davis. Coach. Blengini.

Modena stayed perfect with nine wins in nine games. And that’s the eighth 3-0 in a row, which ties its record of the 1985-86 team led by Velasco. This victory over Latina also guarantees a place in the top four at the halfway point of the regular season and therefore the Italian Cup quarter-final at home. MVP: Uros Kovacevic

Angelo Lorenzetti (coach Modena Volley): “Congratulations to my boys, that was a tough game, against a team that plays excellent volleyball. Now we’re starting an intense run of games in very few days. This group is doing great things, this week again the game was well prepared. The record of the Modena team 85-86 is tied, the fact that people who will come and play here will remember us is an honour, and this is something special”.

Gianlorenzo Blengini (coach Top Volley Latina): “I want to congratulate Modena and coach Lorenzetti who’s doing something really big. My team could definitely have done better, especially in the third set which they let slip away. Now we just have to get back in the gym and work hard to prepare the coming games”.

COPRA PIACENZA – EXPRIVIA NELDIRITTO MOLFETTA 3-0 (25-12, 25-18, 25-21)

COPRA PIACENZA: Alletti 9, Poey 10, Vermiglio 2, Ter Horst, Da Silva Pedreira Junior (L), Massari 8, Zlatanov 13, Ostapenko 8, Tencati, Rodrigues Tavares. DNP Marra, Papi, Kohut. Coach. Radici.

EXPRIVIA NELDIRITTO MOLFETTA: Candellaro 6, Noda Blanco 3, Sket 6, Del Vecchio 1, Spirito, Romiti (L), Kooistra 2, Puliti 1, Bossi 7, Blagojevic 2, Hierrezuelo 5. DNP Porcelli. Coach. Di Pinto.

In front of over 3000 fans, Piacenza eventually managed to get a three-point victory which had not come since the home game of October 29. MVP Zlatanov and co played brilliant volleyball thanks a lot to its captain and the new outside hitter Poey. Piacenza’s number 11 shined at the 9m line with 5 aces (9 for the team).

Aimone Alletti (Copra Piacenza): “Today we managed to hit the serve hard and we consequently made it hard for Molfetta’s reception. They probably did not play with the right frame of mind, while we were ready from the first point. We’re finally starting to understand what is our real potential, in recent games we have been able to play without fear”.

Vincenzo Di Pinto (coach Exprivia Neldiritto Molfetta): “When we’re under pressure, we struggle and lose confidence. Poey led Piacenza to a great game, while we have been naïve at times and made many mistakes. Thanks to the addition of Poey, Piacenza got a lot closer to the top teams”.

ALTOTEVERE CITTÀ DI CASTELLO-SANSEPOLCRO – ENERGY T.I. DIATEC TRENTINO 0-3 (16-25, 17-25, 21-25) – ALTOTEVERE CITTÀ DI CASTELLO-SANSEPOLCRO: Franceschini, Corvetta 1, Dolfo 3, Baroti 17, Tosi (L), Della Lunga 5, Aganits, Maric 1, Randazzo 9, Mazzone 3. ENERGY T.I. DIATEC TRENTINO: Kaziyski 9, Birarelli 9, Zygadlo 2, Nemec 15, Giannelli, Lanza 13, Solé 5, Colaci (L), Fedrizzi. DNP Nelli, Thei, Mazzone, Burgsthaler. Coach. Stoytchev.

Comfortable win for Trentino, 3-0 winners on the road against Città di Castello. Baroti was back in the starting line-up for Castello, while Stoytchev went for a usual line-up with Nemec as outside hitter. MVP: Martin Nemec (Trentino Volley).

Arpad Baroti (Altotevere Città di Castello-Sansepolcro): “We have not played that bad, but we have to improve on high balls and reception to be more competitive against those top teams. Trento is extremely well-organised and they punish every mistake you make”.

Martin Nemec (Energy T.I. Diatec Trentino): “That was great to meet again the many friends I have here. Games are never easy, we prepared this one with extreme care too in order to get the three points. And that’s what we have to do every time”.

CALZEDONIA VERONA – CMC RAVENNA 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-14)

CALZEDONIA VERONA: Zingel 11, Coscione 2, Pesaresi (L), Gitto, Gasparini 15, White 3, Bellei 1, Borgogno 1, Sander 14, Anzani 7. DNP Blasi, Deroo, Centomo. Coach. Giani.

Verona sweeps Ravenna in one of the fixture games of this tenth round as the two clubs were tied in the table. The hosts played with determination and looked powerful in the first set, while they stayed positive and consistent in the remaining two sets. MVP: Taylor Sander

Mitja Gasparini (Calzedonia Verona): “We’re very happy with the result. We started off a bit tense and not as aggressive as we’d have liked. Once we sorted ourselves out at the net and in attack, there was nothing the opponent could do and we won it. This is our fourth win running, we’ll try to get as high as possible”.

Stefano Mengozzi (CMC Ravenna): “We had a good start in the first set. We had prepared this game well, but then we lost our way, and couldn’t  react. We have to build on this positive first set and erase of our mind the remainder of the game. We have to be more composed”.

VERO VOLLEY MONZA – REVIVRE MILANO 2-3 (22-25, 23-25, 25-23, 25-20, 12-15)

VERO VOLLEY MONZA: Elia 11, Gotsev 12, Tiberti 5, Galliani 16, Padura Diaz 5, De Pandis (L), Jovovic, Botto 16, Wang 13, Bonetti. DNP Procopio, Vigil Gonzalez, Cominetti. Coach. Vacondio.

REVIVRE MILANO: Bencz 28, Kauliakamoa Jr 1, Patriarca 1, Rizzo (L), Mattera, De Togni 10, Dos Santos 8, Veres 17, Preti 7, Valsecchi 8. DNP Bermudez, Cerbo. Coach. Maranesi.

Thrilling derby in the PalaIper arena filled by over 1600 fans. Trailing two sets to nil, Monza played with heart to fight back and force a tie-break. But Milan was solid and composed in the fifth set to get its second victory of the season. Vacondio sent Wang Chen instead of a poor Padura Diaz in the second set and the Chinese responded well with 13 total points. In the tie-break, Milan escaped (6-4) and build up a good lead which would never go under the two points. MVP: Bencz

Daniele De Pandis (Vero Volley Monza): “In spite of the defeat, we showed character. There are so many things on which we have to work, we always make those little mistakes at the end of sets which cost us dear. We have to execute better the simple things. When we’ll be able to improve on those details, the first wins will come”.

Alessandro Preti (Revivre Milano):“We knew it was not going to be easy. Monza really played well after our excellent start in the first two sets. We struggled on the counter in the clutch time of the third and fourth set. On the other hand, in the tie-break, we played with consistency. This win will do us good before the coming game against Città di Castello”.
