Surpise last minute hit with Ostapenko

In the final rush of the volley market, Piacenza made a sensational last minute coup with the signing of Aleksej Aleksandrovic Ostapenko. Born in May 1986, the Russian middle blocker (208cm tall) is not only good at the net but extremely reliable on the serve too. He was even named best server in the Russian Cup 2007 and World Championships Juniors 2005. He stayed for years at Volejbol’nyj Klub Dinamo Moscow, where he won the Superliga, two Russian Cups two Super Cups and the Cev Cup in 2012. He moved to Volejbol’nyj Klub Gubernija in 2012-13 and will now make his debut in Italy.
