Trentino added a third piece to its jigsaw following the addition of middle blockers Simon Van de Voorde and Daniele Mazzone. Coach Stoytchev will have in its roster spiker Oleg Antonov. The latter, who will turn 27 in a month, has Russian origins but has the Italian passport. He is the son of the unforgettable outside hitter of the Russian national team who won the silver medal in the Olympic Games 1988. Oleg came up in Treviso’s youth ranks and made his debut in the Serie A1 at hardly 17 years of age. His career continued in Mantova and Genova (A2), then Treviso, Belluno, Cuneo (where he played for two years and went to the Champions League final) and then last year in France. Oleg was born in Moscow but registered as a volleyball player in Italy in 2002 and he’s therefore eligible to play for the Italian national team.

“I feel very fortunate because Trento is a club where all the players would like to go – said Oleg Antonov – I am extremely excited. I know the place very well, I have lived here in the past with my family when I was a kid. In recent weeks in the national team, I talked to Colaci, Lanza and Giannelli, they said a lot of good things about the club. Trento was clearly written in my destiny, this is where I took part in my first ever championship at Under 14 level”.
