Milan won the derby in Monza on a 3-1 score taking revenge of the loss conceded in the first meeting on that same score. This is Milan’s first three-point victory of the season. Monza will be disappointed not so much for the level of play but with the attitude, very similar to the one seen against Latina, and far away from what was seen in Romagna and Modena in the last two games. Milan seemed regenerated with Skrimov back to his best. He was unstoppable, he scored 22 points and was named MVP of the game. Boninfante and Sbertoli took turn to combine very well with Milushev as serve (6 aces) and attack worked just fine. The Monza players lacked composure in the important moments of the game, they lost an opportunity to move back into 8th place as they left the last playoff spot to Padova.

Marco Rizzo (Gi Group Monza): “We’re really upset, but at the same we know we lacked that fighting spirit and determination that had made us win of late. We have to congratulate Milan for the way they played, they made it very hard for us and beat us in the clutch time. We have to analyse this defeat and get back with motivation, because in a week there is a tough match in Molfetta, another important encounter for the playoffs”.

Todor Skrimov (Revivre Milano): “We finally have a taste of a three-point victory. We told ourselves we could do it even if Monza had been playing very well this season. We know it will be tough to aim for the playoffs, our goal remains to think one game at a time and try to finish as high as possible, and most importantly to keep playing at this level”.
