After five years out, Canada is back on the podium of the Pan American games. And the leader of the Canadian squad is no other than the new Padova spiker, Stephen Maar, who helped his team to the bronze medal as he finished third top scorer with a total of 83 points (10 blocks, 2 aces). Canada had the better of the United States 3-1 in the quarter-finals (facing Taylor Averill, 8 points) before surrendering to Argentina in the semi-finals. Maar scored a huge 16 points in the game for third place, won against Mexico. Interesting to note that Maar also finished 4th receiver behind the three Argentines Danani, Martinez and Lazo.
