Piacenza will have Italian and European commitments next season and the club is already working to be prepared for it. The first move on the market could hardly have been any better, indeed Piacenza signed the strong outside hitter Fernando Hernandez Ramos. Born in 1989, the Cuban star had a terrific season with Molfetta. He started to gather acknowledgements early with the Cuban youth teams and then moved on to the senior team with which he won the North American championships in 2011 as best server of the competition. He was also the top scorer of the World Cup with an incredible 20.5 points per game. After a year out of action, he signed in Japan for two years before landing in Italy at Molfetta. “I’m so glad I can stay in Italy – he said – All the top players sooner or later play in this country. My goal will be to keep getting better together with the team and give everything I can to help Piacenza get back where it belongs after a few ups and downs in recent years”.
