Piacenza found its last piece of the jigsaw from Perugia. They signed outside hitter Georgios Tzioumakas. Born in Thessaloniki on 23 January 1995, the promising talent arrived in Italy in 2013-14 with Cuneo before staying two years as Atanasijevic’s back-up in Perugia. But his career had begun in his home town where he won the league title and the Greek cup with Iraklis Thessaloniki. He made his debut in the Greek national team in 2013 and won the silver medal at the European Championships the following year.

“Last season was an unforgettable year in Perugia – said the outside hitter – I chose Piacenza mainly for his great coach and the atmosphere there is here. One of my goals will be to keep improving on my game and obtain the faith of coach Giuliani and my teammates. I will give 100% to help the team experience a special season. Piacenza had a couple of under par seasons but you can see from the roster they put together that they will have important targets this season”.
